Dinner near Roy Thomson Hall

Mushka Nov 23, 2008 06:04 PM

We are going to the Symphony on Wednesday and due to a prior commitment, we cannot eat until 6:30. That means we need a place right on King by the Hall so we can get there on time for 8. I know they are not the best restaurants in town, but what do you suggest? I've heard okay things about Big Daddy's.

I am having the same predicament, except I am going on thursday. Woooo Brahms.
Any suggestions for good restaurants in the area?

There is a spot directly across the street from RTH, up a flight of stairs, external stairs if that makes any sense, that is chinese. My husband and I go there regularly for some of the best dim sum in the city. I'm sorry I can't remember it's name, it's something like Kings Garden. Anyways, if it's dim sum is any indication, I'd try it out for sure.

Monsoon and Fune are both on Simcoe Street... either would be an under-five-minute walk from RTH.

Also note that this very recent thread says that King's Garden has been re-vamped:

There used to be an Indian restaurnat called 'Kama' right across the street. Ordering the buffet is a great way to save time. The erotic statueues that line the walls a bit of a hoot too.

Big Daddy's is fairly decent, with great oyster accompaniments (5 different sauces, verying levels of heat). Starters are fairly creative, mains a little pricey.

I don't think I've seen the buffet at Kama open.

            Completely ignore Il Fornello.
