Chinese delivery in the District?
After a few really disappointing chances with Mei Wah - I used to live in Friendship Heights, the one there is SO much better - I need a new Chinese Delivery place.
Mei Wah in Dupont, at least for delivery, is not that great at all.
Normal, American chinese food - criticize it all you want, but sometimes you want it, and sometimes you want it brought to your apartment.
What are some good ones?
I love Mr. Chen's Organic Chinese. I stopped getting delivery from there when I moved to Dupont (use to live in Adam's Morgan near Woodley Park) because I thought they wouldn't deliver. But I recently was mailed one of their menus, so I took it as a good sign that they are willing to deliver to Dupont.
Their cold sesame noodles are delicious.
It all depends on where you live in the District. I live in Shaw, close to Logan Circle and I get delivery from Great Wall Szechuan Restaurant on 14th (for when I want decent, spicy Chinese) and Peking Garden on 18th when I want my guilty Chinese-American favorites.
Great Wall Szechuan Restaurant
1527 14th St NW, Washington, DC 20005
I had great wall once and it was too greasy for me to get past about 3 bites, and I had to toss it.
I love the idea, but...I can't stomach the oil.
I live in north dupont off 17th street, very close to U...so I'm deliverable from a good portion of places (just not Spices in Cleveland Park and Nooshi is unfortunately no where near as tasty)
Peking Garden is who I call when I want Sweet & Sour Chicken, Fried Rice, Crab Rangoons with fake crabmeat or General Tso's Chicken. They fry things properly and the everything is sickly sweet. Which is perfect for me when I want to guiltily indulge in some old school Chinese American food like. I just can't say no to fried food and sugar. If you want to order something other than these things, wellll, I would be a little leery when I order.
