Are there any Fondue Restaurants in LI other than Melting Pot??

tasaday Nov 23, 2008 07:53 AM

My daughter wants to go to a fondue place for her birthday, and I've heard that Melting Pot isn't really worth it. So are there any other places on the island, or possibly Queens?

There's Simply Fondue (also, unfortunately, a franchise) in Great Neck, 24 Great Neck Rd

It's going in the wrong direction for you, but Sweetwaters in Hauppauge has at least a cheese app and chocolate dessert fondue.

Taste in Sayville is pretty good. (link below)

Yes, melting pot is a chain. And, Yes, it is probably overpriced. But, overall it isn't a bad experience. If you really want a fondue place for a birthday, hit the ATM, get over the fact that it's a chain and just go and have a good time.

bnemes....whoa....I never said I didn't want to go there because it was a chain, I said I've heard it isn't really all that good. You seem to have a differing opinion, which is good. Its always good to hear from more than one source. In your opinion, what is good to get there?

No prob. I would say it is decent and a nice experience. Something I did once and would probably not do again. I really think your daughter will enjoy it though. Let us know where you end up.

So, does anyone know which might be the better choice: Simply Fondue or Melting Pot?
