What's up Tampa Bay?

It seems as though I read all these posts about new places opening up in Miami, Ft.Lauderdale, and so on. I rarely see anything in the Tampa Bay area opening that is from a famous Chef. Tampa is the most lacking in the state of Florida for big name Chefs opening a new place.
I hope to see some new blood opening in the Tampa bay area soon.

  1. Well I don't know about that side of the Bay but in Pinellas they seem to close about as quickly as they open. I don't envy anyone trying to open a new place right now.

    1. Can Wolfman Puck make a Caldo Gallego as good as Arco Iris? For $4.00?

        (And the answer is no, but you can buy one of his dry, tasteless yuppy sandwiches wrapped in cellophane at the TPA airport for like $11. Puh-leese)

          I would much prefer a solid, locally owned, and reasonably priced restaurant to another big name famous chef restaurant. They can stay on the East Coast and in the Orlando concrete jungle as far as I am concerned.

            I'm with you, rhnault. I certainly don't need a famous chef to draw me to a restaurant. I sure would love to see more quality independent restaurants here, though.
