I tend more towards the soups/stews/comforting/warming type foods in the winter months, but at the same time, even in the middle of summer, I have never wanted my salads icy cold.

But I also try to get my veggies, and today was a bit of a fridge cleaner day anyway. I had some multicolored carrots and some small turnips from the farmers market that needed to be used soon, so I roasted them in the oven with some oil and a bit of a molasses mustard rub that i'd had around. It was a small batch, so when done, rather than eat it just as is, i figured i'd make it into a salad. I had greens, a bit of onion, the roasted vegetable mixture (still warm !), some pecans and goat cheese...

OMG it was good....and it didn't make me feel one bit chilly even though i am somewhat snow bound here at the moment.

Do you eat salads in the winter months?

Most definitely! I'm going to have to try the still-warm veggie mix...that sounds awesome. In the winter months, I tend toward more simple salads...maybe greens with sliced radishes... wilted spinach salad (with bacon, etc)... or just a standard wedge. Salads are on my menus all throughout the year. Oooh... can't forget fall salads with cheese and apples or pears!

We still eat salads in the winter and I eat soups and stews in the summer. I might adjust the style or ingredients though.
