town hall area rec needed-sea

HI. I AM IN NEED OF RECS FOR THE AREA AROUND TOWN HALL IN SEATTLE, PREFERABLY WALKING DISTANCE FROM THE BUILDING ITSELF. TYPE FOOD/$$$ NOT AN ISSUE. ABOVE CASUAL IS GOOD. ONE OTHER CAVEAT-THIS IS FOR NEW YEAR'S EVE AND WOULD PREFER A PLACE THAT IS NOT GOING TO HAVE ONLY SOME OUTRAGEOUS "SPECIAL MENU" AVAILABLE. I KNOW THAT MAY BE HARD TO KNOW NOW BUT JUST WANTED TO PUT IT OUT THERE. MANY THANKS.

    Check out Cafe Presse on 12th. It's probably 6-8 blocks away from Town Hall, and it's classic, unpretentious French food at a great price. Delicious steak frites, salads, duck confit and roast chicken, and won't have ridiculous New Year's goings-ons and prices. It's open from 7am - 2am, and the bar is lively and ideal for dessert/cordial/coffee after show at Town Hall. Excellent calvados selection.

      How about Tulio? It's close and great food in a classy setting--and I bet not scheduled for anything outrageous on NYE.

        try geneva it's close, old school and good..can't guarantee they won't have a special menu though. Town Hall is in a sort black hole ..

          GEneva closed down several months ago. It's now an Italian restaurant

            I had a meal at Rustica that was pretty decent. Went to Hunt Club once for either xmas or new years, they only offered their overpriced special holiday menu and it was mediocre imo (ymmv).

              I'd call the Hunt Club at the Sorrento Hotel and see what they have going on for New Year's Eve. The atmosphere are service are wonderful, it is definitely above casual, and the food is very good. I'd guess that they would not limit you to a prix fixe menu because they do serve the hotel. By far the best choice that I can think of within walking distance ot Town Hall.
