Lark Creek Inn fried chicken Sundays
We went last night and overall it was ok. The greens were lightly cooked and silky, the buttermilk biscuit was rich and flaky and the honey butter and pepper jam was very good. The potatoes were all right but very solid but I have never been a big fan of mashing red potatoes when russets seem to be so much better. The chicken itself (3 pieces) was good quality firm meat but the crust was a thick batter that was brittle but tasteless (needed salt and pepper) although the sesame seeds were a nice flavor. Overall, I'm not unhappy that I went but see no reason to go back. My better half had the pot roast price fix which was a decent ceasar, great pot roast (except for the same potatoes) and butterscotch pudding for $37. So two dinners with hot tea $69 before tip. The cheapest dinner ticket I have ever had the Lark Creek but not the best meal. Of course, it has probably been 10 years since I though they were really good, now they just seem average. I actually prefer their Cafe's and also the Yankee Pier.
Thanks for reporting back.
I went about two years ago and it was only ok. They changed chefs in the mean time. There was one enthusiastic report, but I had my doubts. They were great when they first opened and Bradly Ogden was in the kitchen. Too bad. It is a lovely restaurant.
