Baby Carrots?

When I used to work in fine dining we always served baby carrots when carrots were called for. One year at thanksgiving I was able to buy some from the place I worked at, but now that I am out of the biz, I find them very hard to find. My father asks me to make them every thanksgiving, but I can never seem to find them. Anyone ever see these little guys on sale anywhere? Preferebly in the metro southwest?

I bought 4 bags yesterday at the Trader Joes in Framingham. They had plenty. Check the dates though if you go because some had a sell by date of today while others had Dec. 4th.
They were 2.49 a bag with about 10 carrots in each.

perhaps not as fancy as whole foods or russos but still little carrots with the greens attached.

Russos had them this morning when I was there. In the back by the bok choy.

Just in case Moxie isn't around tonight. Be warned it will be a total zoo this week.

Thanks BostonZest - and ditto the zoo statement. I was there super early and parking/aisles were buzzing - everyones' lists in hand.

Russos is a total zoo every weekend. I go there usually once or twice a week, and I no longer bother to go on weekends. On weekends, one cannot even walk down an aisle without being 1) blocked by someone in front and 2) pushed by someone behind. Don't even think of getting a carriage - get a basket instead - or you won't be able to move at all.

Anyway, when I go during the week, I can actually see what's availabe and what's fresh, rather than grab n go n stand in check-out line forever.

I agree about the zooiness and not even trying with a carriage on the weekends, however, I think they do a pretty amazing job there of moving the checkout lines just about as fast as I can imagine is possible - I don't think it's ever been more than 10 minutes even when it looks so daunting.

Baby-cut carrots (common) or real baby carrots?

Whole Foods carries them but they are quite pricey.

The real ones, that look like miniature carrots with the green parts attached....the other ones I hate, their simply large ugly carrots widdled down in tumbler, then sprayed with chemicals.......blech

You could try calling one of the farmers who is going to be coming into the city next week and see if they can bring some for you. I did a piece earlier this week on which Farmers Markets were going to be open next week.

I think you might be able to get them from Atlas Farm, Siena Farm, or Silverbook.

Russos also has them - but not all the time. Best to call ahead to be sure.

Do you mean the small baby carrots with the green tops attached? If so, I've seen them at the Fruit Center Marketplace in Milton.
