Blue Bell Diner - New Owners?

We saw a ad on TV the other day that said that the Blue Bell Diner is under new ownership and has a entirely new menu. Anyone been there recently?

We just came back from the Blue Bell Diner, and I must say that it was one of the worst meals we have ever had. I wouldn't go back there if dinner was free. The food is not expensive, but there is no excuse for the poor food we were served. It was so bad; we left without even ordering the desserts that were included with our meal.

We both ordered the lobster bisque. It was thick, lumpy and salty. I had the meatloaf with a side of broccoli. The meatloaf could not have been homemade. It was tasteless and covered with thin gravy that was separating on the plate. The broccoli was heated up frozen spears and tasted like it. We also ordered the ziti with meatballs; overcooked mushy pasta, funny tasting meatballs (certainly frozen) and tasteless red sauce. There was a puddle of water in the bottom of the dish.

Honestly, the cheapest microwave meal would have been better. We didn’t have high expectations, but with food like this, how can they possible stay in business?

The busboy started to clear the table across from us when the father and son went to the bathroom. They were not done eating and their coats were on the booth’s bench. The waitress did the right thing and ordered them new meals, but my only thought was that the busboy is used to seeing plates of half eaten food and assumed that they were done.

LOL! Thanks for the notice, as in, do not eat here. I won't.

Heh. Bet you are right about the given up on meals there nevets. Glad I have chowhounds to sound the warning. Was thinking of trying that place. See people do care about their pets. Sounds like asking for a doggie bag for the leftovers would be cruelty to animals.

I don't think I've ever had the meatloaf at bbd, but I do love their breakfasts. We've had their burgers, chicken sammies, clubs, pasta... all satisfactory. I really like their lentil, beef veggie and chicken noodle soups as well. I'm sorry you didn't like it, nevets! We always enjoy it, so have most of the people we've brought/sent there.

re: busboy - he's new. and a little weird. ;-)

Blue Bell Diner has been under new ownership and open since Easter. It is an entirely new menu. DH and I are there at least once a week - it's cheap, easy and good. I can tell you the soup available for just about every day of the week... hmmm... maybe we go too much! lol. anyway, we think the food is very good. not stellar - I wouldn't tell Diners, Drive ins and Dives to go there - but it's solid diner food. The soups are all good, not greasy. the veggies are usually frozen, but the entrees are good. We like the pasta, crabcakes (altho they're a little mushy), but breakfast especially. the staff is all very nice, the coffee is very strong. oh, and we really like the rice pudding.
