malaysian in calgary

Anyone recommend any places for malaysian food in calgary. I found out today that tropika had closed their calgary location. Looking forward to eating roti canai and crab

      The OP says it closed. I can't swear to that but the one in Edmonton seemed a bit busier and better to me. Only eaten at each of them once though.

        the original in edmonton tasted better... although, tropika isn't the best... but with limited choices, then...

      I'm learning how to make roti canai (it's easy as it turns out, like green onion pancakes), and my partner makes a KILLER beef rendang... and you're going to have to learn this stuff as well, because for now there is no Malaysian in Calgary. With two caveats:

      1. The Spice Cafes around town do have a couple of Malaysian-ish items, namely a very tasty curry, but they're strictly lunch places;

      2. Sungate Cafe on K'ton does the same menu and is open later and on weekends;

      3. There is an Indonesia resto DT called Bali that has of course some overlap with some Malaysian.

        What happenened to the Malaysian restaurant that was open at very odd hours, in the west end of downtown? Did I imagine the posts about this place? It's probably closed now, due to its funny ideas about hours, but I wonder where the owner or chef went...

            I was thinking of this post: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/527711 which is about the Spice Cafe you mentioned (the one in 5West). I wonder if the owner still does dinner for private parties?
