It's definitely a nice place, and aside from Hangawi, the only vegetarian place I've been to in Manhattan. It's a lot nicer than the Candle Cafe on Third Avenue.

Candle 79 is very nice. The downstairs area has a few booths lined opposite the bar, and upstairs there are a few corner nooks with booths lined up in the middle. I go there every year for my wedding anniversary and we get the two-seater upstairs, right in front of the window where there's usually a lovely large flowering plant.

If you call ahead with info about a special occasion, they will definitely take it into account (we got free dessert!).
