Not really on the Westside, but Sweet Lady Jane, the dreaded Darth Vader of LA bakeries, gets my vote for the best lemon meringue pie, or more like tart. I think it's around eight bucks or so, and about the size of an individual pie/tart, but it's really tasty. But go at your own risk:

Hahaha bulavinaka....excellent post.
I am complete agreement with this one. Their lemon meringue pie is simply scrumptuous. Not all lemon meringue pies are the same...alot of it has to do with the crust....
I'd go get one today but I'm still stuffed from yesterday's 3 pieces of cake and pie from Susina.
For those who are willing to drive all the way to Los Feliz for lemon meringue pie/tart or whatever it is...Alcove has one of the best I've ever tasted besides SLJ...the only
stumbling block is the price....$70 for one....I find that price a little much for a pie when people are losing their houses from fire and late mortgages. Maybe that's just me though :).

Yes I said $70....as in seven-zero.
That's if you order ahead....if you just come in and buy one out of the case it's $75 as in seven-five.
Their cakes are huge and delicious and the lemon meringue tart is fantastic...however, personally speaking, I think I was more dumbfounded by the nonchalance of the person who quoted me the price rather than the price itself. She claimed they can't keep up with the demand!

Bread Bar has one of the best lemon meringue tarts I have ever had, but the lemon pie -- by the slice -- is pretty good at Marie Callender's.
