Heard about this the other day. Is it true?
If so, why? and when?

Ray's the Steaks is moving (some day) to Courthouse in the Navy League building - 2300 Wilson. The original RTS location will be converted into something else - originally Landrum had said he would do a "meat and 3", but with the place he's planning on opening in Kenilworth taking on that mantle, the last I heard he was contemplating a fish fry menu.

was still open the other day when i walked by there to go to guajillo.

also the new restaurant seems to be coming together (finally). there are tables and chairs set up in the dining room.

Definitely still open. The current RTS is going to become Ray's the Net.

Good to know, thanks guys. The new location is even closer to my house and really not that far from the current one, so woohoo!

This is Michael Landrum's response to the Ray's the Net rumor floated in Washingtonian Best Bite article
          (http://www.washingtonian.com/blogarticles/restaurants/bestbites/9540.html ):
"Best not to get too attached to anything I say or what the press pre-emptorily reports, as all is in flux--Chaos reigns, and the situation is excellent!" (http://www.donrockwell.com/index.php?... )

              chaofun, thanks.

i hope ray's the net serves a better variety than tuna and salmon! (i'm sure he will....) maybe some cioppino? bouillbaisse? zuppa de pesce? in my wildest fantasies!

i like that the rts will have first-come-first-serve AND a reservation system. best of both worlds.

and the navy league building is "WEST" of the current locale? nope, not unless you travel a helluva way around the world to get there! ;-).

Um, the new location is most certainly west of the current location. 2300 Wilson as opposed to 1725 Wilson.

of course, you are absolutely right, dk. from my house, i always go to court house a diff. way than i go to ray's, though they're not far apart, really. for some strange reason, that little stretch where ray's is located always makes me have to think twice about how to get there. and we used to go to that strip a lot more often back when thai house was there, and our fave little italian place (next to the strip club!) we called "pepe's" -- after the central american owner. i miss both places.

the thai house moved to cherrydale area, then changed names (supee's), then changed owners, then the original lady owner/mgr. left, and her chef had health issues. anyone know if the former owner is around? she was nice.
