RIP- Chianti

I know someone mentioned earlier on the board that both Chianti's were closing. I guess seeing the sign for the new place hanging over the old awning made it hit home.

I think that this is a sad loss for LA. So many places come and go in this town and most without much character. Chianti, the formal room side, had a mystic and charm to it that you just can't find elsewhere in Los Angeles. Dark wood and dark lighting; an attentive, knowledgable and well-dressed wait-staff and the feeling that you had gone back in time made it such a pleasurable experience. The extra-added bonus was that the food was consistently good, as well.

On top of this, was the fact that every time I ate there I knew that I would have some sort of celebrity siting/experience, whether it was sitting across from Marilyn Manson or next to Steve Martin.

A truly old hollywood favorite...gone. Sniff.

    1. I'm totally sad about this too. In October my boyfriend called to make reservations for our anniversary and we were stunned to find out they had closed. We still don't know where to go now for special occasion/romantic dinners. I mean, I know there are plenty of other restaurants, but this was our place! :(

        1. Spent many wonderful evenings at Chianti. What a shame.
