Dinner spot near the National Theater area?

DCResider Nov 19, 2008 12:09 PM

A friend and I are planning to see a show at the National Theater and were looking for a reasonably priced dinner (in the low-mid price range). Any recommendations? Want to avoid Butterfield 9, Chef Geoff's and M&S Grill as we've already eaten there.

701 has a nice pre-theater prix fixe menu. You could also go to Central (maybe the bar?) if that's considered reasonably priced.

Bistro d'Oc (518 10th St., NW) also has an excellent early-bird prix fixe menu.

Unfortunately Butterfield 9 closed this year :( My favorite restaurant in that area is the delicious and cozy french bistro Bistro D'Oc.

Elyssa, I FINALLY had dinner there the other night (I work a 45-second walk away, but have never had dinner there). It was just lovely. So cozy and comfy on a cold night, and the food was lovely. And it ended up being pretty reasonably priced compared to most French restaurants!

Isn't it a great find? Man if I worked that close I would be in big trouble. I need to go back soon...it's been a couple of months. Maybe I'll treat myself to duck confit and a movie at the E Street this weekend. :)
