lounge/bar near hollywood

visiting from san diego, staying in the area of vine and melrose.. thinking about pizzeria mozza for dinner and then attending LA comedy fest nearby. the show is not til 11pm so i'm looking for a cool lounge/bar to hang until the show.

The Foundry on Melrose (on Melrose @ Gardner) has a really nice lounge area in the front half of the restaurant good for one person or many. Also, it has a full bar as well pretty nice wines in the glass.

The Village Idiot is good too, but is more of a pub. The Foundry's lounge is less frat-boy feeling. both are good depending on what vibe you're looking for.

Lou is right at Melrose and Vine but it's mainly a wine bar, not that loungey. But still a nice place and close to where you are. If you want to go all the way up to Sunset there's Bowery on Sunset and Vine and a jillion other places a bit further. I think the place that was Small's on Melrose has closed? Is 3 of Clubs still there at Santa Monica and Vine? Anyone?

For an upscale pub try The Village Idiot on Melrose & Martel. For a dimly-lit yet laid back Hollywood bar that isn't too *Hollywood*, there's The Well on Sunset & Argyle.

Second The Well. Not always my favorite, but seems like a good choice given what you're looking for. It's dark, loungy, they play good music and the vibe is pretty chill.
