The Steakhouse (in Palos Verdes) Kobe beef

Anybody tried The Steakhouse on Crenshaw and Rolling Hills Rd, next to Lamp Post Pizza? It's a Japanese take on a Western-style steakhouse, ie not teppan yaki. It's pricey, but supposedly has very good meat: kobe, wagyu, etc.

My assessment is not as stellar. Yes, the wagyu meat is amazing but I found everything else mediocre to downright ridiculous (eg, the cheesecake was so obviously fake - as in, from a Jello box). If you go, the New York is the thing to get. It was a bit scary looking raw (barely mauve, due to ultra-heavy marbling) but it was delicious and much beefier than the Filet. I found the Wagyu sushi a bit gamey but my hubby liked it (though didn't *love* it). I also didn't find the sauce on the sushi to complement the meat in any way. I would have preferred just a squeeze of lemon or a sprinkle of salt. If you go, just get the steak and get dessert elsewhere, if you even feel like dessert after such a rich hunk of meat. To use exilekiss' grading system, I'd say 9 for the meat, 5 for the other stuff, about 7 overall experience based on food/service/decor.
