Cancun with Kid
Spending a week at the Mariott with husband and 3 year old son. Can anyone reccomend non-american chain restaurants that are "reasonable," and good? Thanks!
Must they be chain restaurants? If so, Cancun has plenty of Mexican chain restaurants: Los Bisquets de Obregon, Sanborn's, Tok's, California. They're not reasonably priced for most Mexicans (generally a fresa crowd) but they'd be reasonable for foreigners.
the kids menu at Los Bisquets de Álvaro Obregón is very good, but the place is downtown. Sanborns is closer and the kids menu is also good, they have the regular American stuff, hot dogs, hamburguers...but also taquitos de pollo, milanesa, sabanita de pollo, fruit cocktail, consomé and sopa de fideos, kids like it very much. Also ask for naranjada or limonada preparada con agua mineral (lemonade with mineral water) much better than soda pop and tastes good. Kids in Mexico that age eat lots of Danoninos and Yakults,
If I remember correctly, the Sanborn's in the Hotel Zone is now closed. Could be wrong though. One of the Sanborn's closest to the hotels (not the one in Plaza Las Americas) is just two blocks away from one of the downtown Los Bisquets.
I've never been a fan of this type of restaurant, but if I had to choose, I prefer the cafe con leche at Los Bisquets.
100% natural in town is good for everyone, they have a big menu and the food is pretty good, Checondole is also good home cooking, there should be something on the menu that appeals to your son, Pappas fritas if nothing else!!! If you have a car of want to spend the money on a cab try Flamingos in Punta Sam, really nice setting, good service, and the fish is good and they make rice dishes that you son should like.
