London - anyone know where I can buy Madelines?

iheartcupcakes Nov 18, 2008 08:32 AM

My friends little boy fell in love with Madelines while in the States on holiday and she has been looking for them since her return for him! Anyone know where I can get them in London? Freshly baked or packets are fine!

Thanks v.much
Anne

I've seen packets of them at Waitrose. I think it's the Bonne Maman brand, but I'm not 100% sure. They make quite a few good, French biscuits. My French teacher often brings them as a snack to our class. I might have also seen them at Sainsbury's - not sure.

I forget if Poilâne has madelines, but if they do, I suspect they'll be as good as it gets in London. Poilâne's 'Punitions' (butter cookie) are totally addictive.

Thanks - I have a couple of days off work next week so I'm planning on checking out some coffee shops and also doing some shopping so will check out Poilane if I'm in the area although from the sound of their butter cookies maybe I shouldn't!!!!

Another thought: if you find yourself near a Paul you might check to see whether they have madelines:

Ladurée at Harrods might also be worth checking:

I've just remembered.... Aubaine. Yet another choice.....260-262 Brompton Road. I think there's another location too.

Thanks again everyone! I was actually looking at Laduree's website last night and spotted they did Madelines (I was looking for Macaroons for my mum's Xmas) - I shall be checking out some of these for Madelines asap!

              Thanks again
