Dinner near the Boston Expo Center

gini Nov 18, 2008 08:22 AM

My sister will be attending an event at the Boston Expo center in December and I have been tasked with finding a suitable dining location for a Friday night, not too far away from there. We'll be four - she doesn't care about food at all, my mom is a chef, and I'm a 'hound - where does that land us?

I've offered up dbar, Ashmont Grill and Cafe Polonia, leaning heavily towards the last one. Am I missing anything here? Other recommendations?

The vietnamese restaurants in Fields Corner aren't that much further down. Those could be another option. But, Polonia, with reservations, would probably be your best bet.

Yeah, I thought of that - I've done the Vietnamese restaurants with mom and she was very happy, but my sister would throw a fit. Or just not eat.

Cafe Polonia is a great idea. Dry Dock Cafe does a nice, simple seafood dinner when they are open at night, which I think now includes Friday, but I would call first.

Dry Dock is sort of a hike though.

        224?

When is Franklin Cafe @ Broadway opening

Oops - you are so right - I was thinking of the Boston Convention Center - sorry about that.

How about Siro's at Marina Bay in Quincy? It is the same distance away as Ashmont Grill and the view is a whole lot better!

Ah, I often forget about Marina Bay - something about the commercials for Waterworks (now named something else?) just scare me. Thanks for the rec!

Funny, Quincy is never on my mind. But, is Little Q Hotpot still open? While I haven't been there, hotpot in December sounds great.
