Tips for Dining, Eating and Food Shopping in Florida (inc. Orlando, Tampa and the Florida Keys)

Ft. Myers / Bonita / Naples Thanksgiving

We're looking for the best place to have Thanksgiving dinner in the area. After living here for 25 years, the thrill is gone when it comes to organizing and preparing a huge meal, so we're looking for the best place to relax and let somebody else work like dogs for a change. Any and all suggestions would be sincerely appreciated!

    1. My personal favorite restaurants in the area are Campiello, Angelina's, and Cru. I have no idea if they're open for Thanksgiving. I've also had very good meals at the Ritz Carlton, which probably is open. However, all bets are off for holiday meals, considering special menues are usually offered.

        1. On Revrend Andy's recommendation, our favorite new find last season was Wyld's Cafe, in Bonita. Really excellent food and service -- my favorite of the dishes ordered was a meatloaf special. They have a sister restaurant very close by, much more casual, called Crust. I ordered a pork osso buco, which was a huge serving and looked gorgeous but was a little dry. But the mushroom stuffing and gravy that came alongside were really excellent, as was a shared flatbread as a starter, so if they are open and roasting some turkeys for Thanksgiving, it might be a great place to try and probably not horribly expensive.

            1. I had Thanksgiving two years ago at the Ritz. It was a very nice affair and well done. Enormous buffet but everything was fresh and kept rotated. Turkey, prime rib, lobster, salmon, etc. Fresh oysters, soups, all the typical seasonal dishes. Huge numbers of families and tables set for 1-20. I'm not dining out, but since there are just the two of us this Thanksgiving, I am making a picnic Thanksgiving to have on the beach. LMF

edit: I just looked at their special Thanksgiving website and dinner is $105 PP. I think it was under $75 in 2006.
