Decent priced/great tasting food near Grand Central

Anyone know any places in Midtown East where you can get a decent priced dinner (obviously will probably be more expensive in this part of town) that is excellent?? I have family coming to town, and they'll be leaving out of grand central after dinner so wanted to stay semi-close.

how far are you willing to travel? convivio is supposed to be really good. there tons of places on 3rd avenue, just depends how close you want to stay. also what is the budget?

Def willing to travel down to 35 up to 45/46 and east to like 1st ish. Budget for an entree would be no more than 25 - 30 dollars that of course is just for the main.

I'm not a big fan of Cibo, though I've only been once. If you are willing to go up just a little bit further, I recommend Pampano.

If that's your main course budget, then Convivio is an excellent fit. Plus, the 4-course prix-fixe @$59 is a steal for cuisine of such high caliber. The restaurant is a few avenue blocks from Grand Central, on Tudor City Pl., b/t 42nd & 43rd, I highly recommend it.

Osteria Laguna has delicious fresh pastas and thin crust pizzas for relatively inexpensive prices. It's on 42nd between 3rd and 2nd I believe.

Cibo-41st and 2nd Ave--they have good prix fixe dinner for about $30--not sure if that $ is up to date. I suggest a reservation but if not, likely aok. They have great booths for 4-those need to be booked. Also, a few large tables.
