    1. I am looking forward to going out this week too. Went to Costa de sol last summer for taste of Hartford's $24.00 pre fix special. Really good Spanish food and service was great. I am thinking of trying Barca or Feng Asian Bistro this week and also booked my company's Christmas party at Spris for this Saturday. Does anyone have any comments on these restaurants?

I was at Feng Saturday night. Great ambience. Food was excellent. We had some appetizers including a sushi plate (can't remember which one, sorry) and a wonderful sesame tuna. Entrees at our table (all very well received) were salmon, filet mignon, 5 spice chicken and scallops. Portions a little on the small side but everything was quite good. Highly recommended.

We went to Carmen Anthony's Fish House in Wethersfield on Sunday night which was offering the same menu as that offered by the Steakhouse during New Haven Restaurant Week, but at $9 less. We started of with a Campagna salad that was very fresh. We also both chose the filet mignon oscar - described as 8 ounces, my wife's probably came in a 5 while mine registered at least an 8. Hers was pretty good, but mine was running with juice, tender and extremely tasty. The Hollandaise sauce with crab complemented the steak. This was probably one of the best filets I have had in years. The accompanying mashed potatoes and asparagus were more than decent. Service was very good throughout.

Yesterday, Monday, afternoon we were the first of only 4 patrons. Our waiter, Patrick, serves us warm bread with a black bean salsa. My wife and I both started off with the Ensalada Tango - a mix of raddichio, endive and blue cheese in a lightly dressed Balsamic Vinaigrette. Delicious, but I could see where a heavy hand with the dressing could easily ruin the salad. Our waiter was excellent throughout, but he mistakenly served us a second appetizer, the black bean soup. We advised him of his mistake, but he told us to enjoy it and we did. Highly flavorful and enough kick to keep the meal interesting. We both could have quit at this point, but our herb roasted chicken was just arriving. Amazingly juicy and tasty, the chicken was accompanied by a bountiful portion of mashed potatoes, Swiss chard and a tomatillo sauce. The latter added little to an otherwise outstanding entree. We contemplated taking the dessert to go, but decided to go for the full monty. Amaretti creme brulee tasted even better than it sounds. Two complete meals of this quality for a total of only $20.08 has to be the best bargain offered during CT Restaurant week.

We have reservations at Feng's Asian Bistro on Thursday just before the UCONN women's game at the XL Center and at Sauce in Glastonbury for Saturday night.

Where did you eat at on Monday?

              • Thursday we dined at Feng Asian Bistro. We had to request the CT Restaurant Week menu from our waiter. We each chose the appetizer - a sampler platter that included a crab ragoon (not much crab, but loaded with cream cheese), a shrimp sumai (looked lke a small scallop, but was very tasty), chicken satay (very small, but tasty) and a beef dumpling (very good). Our entrees were ginger salmon over Shang Hai noodles. The salmon did not have much of a ginger taste, but was very crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The Shang Hai noodles were very good though I was surprised by the amount of sauce. We concluded with a banana (did not taste) and coconut spring roll accompanied by vanilla ice cream. Overall, the meal was very good as was the service.

We ate there Thursday night as well--between the three of us, we tried everything on the prefix menu and although it was good, I do agree with chowmensch-- the portions were on the small side but presentation was beautiful. We would definitely go back to try the regular menu.

We went there Wednesday night-Food was very good. We tried everything on the prefix menu and would probably go back for lunch. We also had to ask for the prefix menu which turned me off a bit. I assume restaurants that are taking part in this event want more business, especially from new people that might not have tried their restaurant but are willing to try something new with an incentive such as restaurant week. We have reservations at Spris tomorrow night. Has anyone been there yet?

On Friday night we dined at Sauce in Glastonbury ordering off the pre-fix menu which again was not offered. Though we held an advance reservation, we were seated in the small dining area immediately adjacent to the bar. There was a large boisterous crowd in the bar area that overflowed into the dining area. The noise level was way too loud so we asked to be seated in the dining room. Menu choices were different from what was shown on the CT Restaurant Week menu. Our drink orders were taken and 2 slices of very mediocre Italian bread were served along with a delicious bowl of marinara sauce. My wife started off with the Italian chopped salad while I ordered the chef's antipasti - both were delicious but portion size was amazingly small. For entrees we each chose the cioppino - 6 mussels, 2 smallish shrimp and 2 ocean scallops. The spicy roasted fennel and tomato soup was excellent, but once again was less than one would normally expect. There online menu listed 3 dessert choices, but the printed menu included only one and even that was slightly different. The pana cotta came with a warm chunky apple sauce which was outstanding. Overall the meal was very good and the service excellent.

Love Spris. See if the chef will make you a risotto.
