Offal Lotta Love
Where can I buy fresh, good-quality lamb or veal kidneys, liver, sweetbreads, etc.? Anywhere between Worcester, MA & Providence, RI would do. Since the new federal regulations prohibit the sale of offal in states which have no slaughterhouses, all we see is the occasional bit frozen, which is not worth eating. Caul, calves' feet, tongues, etc. are also wanted. Harder to find than ever in an offalphobic culture. Cheers!

Here in VT we buy most of our kidneys, etc. from local producers. Imagine our surprise when a Wal-Mart Super Center opened in nearby Woodsville, NH - the meat department carries a dependable supply of beef tongue! Given the amout of product there we may be the only customers, but at least we can enjoy our braised tongue and the several days of sandwiches that follow...

Try Fairway Beef in Woosta. If they don'y carry it, they nay get it. Or, a little out of the way, Panzano in Southborough, Ma

FWIW, the Hannaford's in North Brookfield carries beef liver, pig's feet, and beef tongue (not frozen, either). Haven't seen lamb/veal kidneys or sweetbreads, but I'll have to ask the butchers there (you never know!). I'll let you know what I find out.
And if you do find a place that carries this stuff, PLEASE post it here, as there are others of us here looking for the same!
