Culver City? Late Night? Hmmmm... scratching my head... Healthy? No red meat? Still scratching head... Johnnie's Pastrami on Sepulveda is open pretty late, and that's the first and only place that comes to mind in Culver City, but it's the antithesis of your criteria. Although the action in Downtown Culver City has breathed new life into this town, I think Culver City in general still shuts down pretty early compared to parts further east and is like Iowa next to your namesake. I don't hang out late anymore so hopefully some night-hounds will chime in on this...

hey b, great minds think alike -- when i read the headline my first thought was Johnnie's as well. if their pastrami is just too fatty or salty (hey, doesn't living in nyc cultivate some sorta impenetrable resistance?) i think they have lettuce and tomato to put on their burgers -- so they can make you a salad to go with your onion rings. on the east side of cc on venice the del taco and wendy's have drive-thrus that are open 24 hours. but i don't know of any of the restaurant kitchens (fraiche, akasha, beacon, etc.) that are open past 10. even some of the so-called gastropubs don't serve food very late -- bottle works, ford's, even father's office 2. even the taquerias and taco trucks, that in other parts of the city only start doing business late night, pack it in early in cc. how late is cafe brasil or bamboo open and serving food?

Tacos Don Jorge is open till I think 2a... But there is gastro-intestinal danger in eating spicy food that late... LOL!

What Cinco de Mayo doesn't count as healthy? LOL!
I know you said no fast food, but the truck parked on the corner of Inglewood and Venice is there pretty late. I've stopped and grabbed stuff from them around midnight a few times. I've always found their stuff clean and fresh tasting. Maybe a clayuda or taco's with chicken. I like the little salsa bar they have.
Btw, do NOT confuse this with the truck a little further down same side of the street west of Grandview across from Good Hurt. That truck is not good at all.

How late is late? How Fancy do you want it?
Fraiche, Rush Street and Fords are open till 11p, and even later with a bar menu.
For casual, we hit up Famima or West Subs (Surprisingly good salads).
Father's office (with some healthish specials... ) is also open late... 12a on Friday and Saturdays...

Dommy! great to see you and M back on the board. Are you now successfully married and all? Did you have the receptions you wanted and envisioned? Your chowfriends and fans want to know. Now, unfortunately Don Jorge turned me off. After struggling to find a legal place to park, I stopped in one morning before noon as they were opening and setting up. No salsa bar -- what's with that? Asked about the al pastor, and it is not from a rotisserie. Prices were nothing special. Why (and for what specific items) would I go there rather than any of a number of taquerias or the truck outside the Smart & Final on Venice? And tell me more about West Subs. Where? Why? Any reason to go there rather than Victor Jr.'s or Togo's or (the old but my new discovery) Sorrento's or even Hoagies & Wings? Best.....

Thanks for thinking of us! Yes all went well but sadly are still swamped... my reason for run on posting tonight is that I have a 15 page paper I'm avoiding writting... but going to have to get back on that horse this week...
As for my above recommendations, I would have NEVER mentioned them if the OP was not looking specifically for late night places...
Despite the lack of spit, I liked Don Jorge's Al Pastor, it was VERY well seasoned and moist. Their asada was pretty tasty! But you are right, there are other trucks and such in the nieghborhood that are better... but sadly aren't there past mid-night (Not even our beloved Betos Tacos Trailer) and when you are starving after working a long election nigth and looking for tacos nearby at 1a... it does hit the spot... with or without salsa bar...
The same thing for Westsubs... nothing really special (except for maybe their opened faced tuna melt.) But when looking for a salad after a yoga class that ends at 10p... there is not much choice out there (so yeah... Johnny's is truly not a one size fits all).
Now, I've always been a late night chowhound, especailly as I now find myself back to school. So I too was worried about my options here in Culver City... but searching for places, I have a few cards in my deck now and I think I've made out pretty good...

Glad to hear things are working out. What is the 15-page paper on? Can you somehow work Chowhound in as a sociological/anthropological/business/nutritional or some other subject? Just brainstorming... Looked up Westsubs, and it seems to be much more a boba place than really focused on subs, though some seem to like their tuna crunch melt.

Yeah, we have a theory that they called themselves Westsubs (when in reality they don't sell any subs... LOL!) to get the lease, because if the business name had anything about Boba on it, it would get quashed by that Starbux across the parking lot... LOL!
That being said, the boba is 'meh'
Best!

Love me some spit roasted tacos al pastor. Where do you find some near Venice? We have La Oaxaquena at night and they have some great tacos, but not the same as the trompo.

yeah, this is a tough one.
i'm at lmu and we always end up at a taco truck if we venture into cc.
sakura isn't open super late (culver/centinela), but it's somewhat healthy, run of the mill japanese food.
the tough thing is the dietary restriction.
the hare krishna temple in cc on venice isn't open late (it's barely open past 7, if i remember correctly), but they have one of the best cheap all you can eat vege buffets.
also, check out leaf if you're into raw foods, however that isn't open super late either.

You open an interesting option when you mention Japanese. Is there anything on Sawtelle (the corridor for food is the stretch between Olympic and Santa Monica Blvd.) that is open really late?

strangely enough, nothing is open super late down there.
it's sort of disappointing.
everything buttons up around 10-11.

wow..haven't heard of that krishna temple...do you have a web link for them? or any more info?
