I'm wondering if anyone knows of a shabu shabu place in Rhode Island. Recently we had a great meal at Kaze in Boston and I would love to find something in RI.

They have it at Sea Shai in Middletown, RI.

Gee, when I was living in Japan in the late 50's/early 60's, this was strictly a home-cooked meal. I love to prepare this for friends, but can't imagine it as a restaurant experience.

Here's a second vote for the very good Ebisu in Providence...

I know this post is a bit old but it also bears mentioning that at both Phonatic on Angell St. and Pho Horn's off of North Main you can get Vietnamese hot pot meals that are similar to shabu shabu (though in my opinion tastier) and definintely cheaper than shabu shabu at places in Boston and NY.

If you aren't lucky enough to have Japanese friends/family w/a hot pot to help you w/a homestyle shabu shabu, check out Haruki in Cranston. It's as close to authentic taste as you can get without the aforementioned Japanese relations.
