Sweet potato puree recipe without butter?

Looking for a good sweet potato puree to make for Thanksgiving. Maybe with bourbon. But don't want to use butter, for heath reasons. Any ideas?

  1. I use goat cheese and fresh ginger in my sweet potato puree, people seem to scarf it down.

    1. I bake the sweet potato for at least an hour (until it is squishy to the touch) and add a tiny bit of nutmeg, sometimes a drizzle of 100% maple syrup before mashing. No butter necessary and people eat it fast! It may be my imagination but the organic sweet potato seems to be naturally more sweet than the non-organic, at least to me!

      1. I do the same as ideabaker only I add some Earth Balance or Soy Garden margarine instead of butter. I like the taste of these spreads on just about everything, especially potatoes, sweet or plain ole regular. I agree that the organic sweet potatoes are a little bit sweeter than the nons.

        1. Salt, pepper, and a good extra virgin olive oil is what I use on baked sweet potatoes, but I think it would work for puree, too.
