My green tomatoes are turning red...

I thought I would make some fried green tomatoes as a side but I waited and the fruit sitting on my window started turning shades of red...question: does the tomato still have the same properties or should I use them as I would a ripening tomato?

  1. As the tomato ripens it becomes softer and sweeter. You'll have to be the judge as to whether or not they've ripened too far. You might be better served using a green tomato variety than a green (unripe) tomato

    1. Next time, store green tomatoes in the fridge. Red tomatoes should never go in the fridge, unless they are going to go bad at the last minute and you are going to eat them soon.
