Thanksgiving pies - Brookline

Does anyone have any suggestions for where to purchase pies for Thanksgiving in the Brookline area? Don't have time to battle day before Thanksgiving traffic to get to Petsi's. Have been disappointed with Party Favors and Virginia's pies in the past. What have people's experiences been with the quality of Pie in the Sky offerings? Thanks.

    Does Clear Flour make pies?

Never seen any, just the aforementioned tarts. But they are truly outstanding, and really very much like small open-top pies.

They don't make pies, per se - as macadamianut mentions below, they make a wonderful rustic tart (kind of a freeform pie not baked in a pie pan) which is available in apple along with varying seasonal versions, but not a traditional pie.

BTW, since nobody else has chimed in, I will say that my family got pies from Pie in the Sky for several years and they were always good - the main reason we stopped was that I really, REALLY love making my own Thanksgiving pies, and it pained me every year to have to decide which variety I would refrain from making so that we could get one.

I hope so! Everything they make is fantastic. Clear Flour makes great Apple tartes.

I have a friend who has brought me Thanksgiving Pie in the Sky pies for years. The good ones were really good, the not-so-good ones were at least tolerable and the only really bad one was a pecan that liquified before we got to it! On balance, more good than bad, but be aware that the quality varies.

Allandale Farm in Brookline/JP carries wonderful pies from Ever So Humble in Walpole. Their fruit pies are fanastic - especially the Jumble Berry. They also have a squash-pumkin pie. I think Allandale takes orders for Thanksgiving, but check with them first.

Thank you all - I had forgotten about ClearFlour 's wonderful apple tarts. Will also check out Allendale.

I've done Pie in the Sky for a few years now, and have always gotten wonderful pies. One key is to arrive at your pickup destination early - they don't have any issue with you taking a look at a few pies to pick your favorite chef or restaurant, but with many people doing that some of the best get snapped up. That, and it is a great cause that I hope your guests will appreciate.

Not Brookline, but noticed a sign in the window of Mariposa on Mass Ave in Central Sq., Cambridge, for holiday pies.
