Where would you go if you were looking for truffles north of Boston?

This question was raised while I was out shopping for veal shank to make Osso Buco.

I'd call ahead, but you can probably get preserved black summer truffles at the Woburn Whole Foods. You could also try the Wine Shoppe (sp?) in Reading or that little gourmet store/sandwich shop in Andover whose name I forget and whose high sandwich prices and inconsistent service piss off hounds on this board.

But a perfect description of Mawby's, IMO. ;-)

Begs the question, where do you go for veal shank? I don't know who else has it besides Whole Foods...

I got the veal shanks at Alpine Butcher in Lowell, right off of 110 near the Cross Point towers.

Osso Buco is cooking right now. :)

Sulmona in the NE is a great source for veal shanks.
