Reasonable Meals with Kids Near Hyatt on Wacker.

My wife and her sister are taking two of our kids to Chicago while she's attending a conference at the Hyatt. I'd appreciate any recommendations for lunch and dinner that are within five or six blocks that would cheerfully accommodate two three year-olds. Heaven on Seven is out and they'll probably hit Dao Thai on Ohio.

Thanks in advance,

  1. This topic has a comprehensive discussion of cheap eats near the Hyatt Regency: Most of the places mentioned there are fine with kids. My top picks would be Giordano's in Prudential Plaza for pizza, and maybe taking them to the cafe in the rear of Fox & Obel. (F&O is across the river but just a few blocks walk - the kids would probably like walking across the river.)

Don't forget that with any of the Chicago pizza places, you can phone ahead with your pizza order to avoid waiting 30-45 minutes while seated for your pizza to bake - an eternity for kids.

    1. Here are some good places for you:
      1. Rainforest Cafe, 605 N. Clark St. (your kids will love the animatronic puppets and faux rain storms)
      2. foodlife - 835 N. Michigan (in Water Tower Place)
      3. Ed Debevics - 640 N. Wells St.

      1. Another good place in that area for kids, and moderately priced, is Grand Lux Cafe at 600 N. Michigan.

Thanks for the advice...I think we're going to Grand Lux tonight. We had Dao Thai for lunch, spicy basil beef was excellent and we had takeout from Kamehachi last night---very, very nice Alaskan Crab Maki rolls, the beef teryaki was as good as you could expect for delivery..

        2. Millers Pub, Exchequer, and Thai Spoons, all on South Wabash, are child friendly and reasonably priced.
