Vancouver Recommendations

My SO and I will be in Vancouver for a weekend in December and are looking for recommendations for cool tapas bar/lounges to check out in the evenings. We will be staying at The Sutton Place Hotel (Burrard & Robson) and anything within walking distance will receive extra consideration. That being said, I read a recent review of Chambar and figured that may just be the type of place we are looking for.
Daytime will probably be spent wandering around Robson Street, Granville Island, Yaletown and Gastown so if there are any "must try" spots for brunch or lunch I am all ears, as well.

    1. Bin 942 is close by. Chambar is a great place to drink and eat. In the daytime - try Go Fish on Granville Island. In Gastown - the Greedy Pig, The Irish Heather, Boneta (if open for lunch), Medina.

I could have sworn I read some months ago about Boneta doing a FU Friday lunch sorta thing but no such on their website...

I though Boneta was open for lunch all week in the summer...then just Friday...then I'm not sure anymore....or am I thinkng of Aurora?

They wre open for lunch in the summer only on Friday's for FU Friday's now they are open all week long (don't think weekend's though) for lunch. ALthough they may have new Christmas hours. Come to think of it, I believe they do have new Xmas hours..... damn now I have to call and ask...

              • Since you're staying at the Sutter Place, check out Japadog outside of the hotel. I think it's open during the day only but it's a great light lunch or snack.

                  1. For the afternoon walk to the sea bus and for a small fee you ride across to North Vancouver. It is a good ride by itself. While I was there I saw the hospital ship HOPE at port. On the other side you are 30 yards from Lonsdale Quay, there is a huge sign visible from Vancouver itself. The bottom floor is somewhat like Pikes Place Market in Seatle. there are several eating establishments there with markets all indoors except where restaurants extend outside. It is next to a working tugboat dock and there is stuff to watch all the time with a good view of the shipping and pleasure traffic. I loved it.
