Italian themed dinner/ wine tasting decor

Does anyone have any ideas for adding to my decor for an Italian meal & wine tasting? nothing cheesy (no italian posters). I am especially looking for a centerpiece.

I went to a small restaurant in Lucca a few weeks ago. They had some homey, personal items on display along with a few pumpkins and gourds for decoration.

I think a gallon can of Italian olive oil would look nice, maybe even a tin of di Saronno cookies....A nice wedge of parmigiano reggiano, a few mason jars filled with assorted pastas, a vase of breadsticks?

How about some cut flowers in a pretty hand-painted vase from Siena? This one has been on my wish list for a long time. http://www.roscoart.com/ctleng/img108...

Baskets of fruit, breads and and or italian cookies. A platter with a few cheeses and grapes. A long olive server with olives of course.

Wine carafes flled with good bread sticks, or fried spaghetti(I've been to several places that have had this at a bar and it is actually good). Don't know if it is actually fried or roasted in the oven, but neet looking and tastey too.

I ended up finding an oval tin 8 inch high planter, into which I put a candle and surrounded it with baby artichokes. I also found some various decorative bottles filled with peppers. I took out some large coffee table books on Italy and scattered them around in piles. found some empty bottles in various sizes (like for olive oil or dressing) and grouped them. some baskets, and some plastic grapes. It looked good!

              thanks for all the sugestions.
