Sunday night seafood in Ft Lauderdale near pier

Hi all! I'm a Chicago hound looking for great seafood in Ft. Lauderdale on a Sunday night in November. We're staying at the Hyatt Pier 66 and don't want to venture too far by cab. Also, nothing super dressy (i.e. jacket and tie). I've looked at Blue Moon and The Rustic Inn. Any opinions or suggestions?

  1. I would recommend a ride on the Water Taxi. They will pick you up at the Pier 66 docks and deliver you to any number of stops with a scenic narrative along the way. The Las Olas Riverfront stop would give you the most options with Himmarshee Bar & Grill being a good choice for great casual seafood just a short walk from the dock.

    Check out: and .

    1. I'm a big blue moon fan. Trendy and you can get a nice table on the intercostal. Top notch seafood. Rustic inn is near the top of my list of restaurants to try. Much more laid back.

There is Fish across the street from you on the 17th street causeway. i have had great experiences there but many on this board hate the place. LiveRock had a great idea about taking an evening ride on the watertaxi and maybe getting off somewhere for another experience. Other good restaurants with good seafood but not stricktly seafood restaurants include Himmarshee bar and grill, Johnny V's on Las Olas, and Trina's on A!A. More dressy would be Charlie's Crab next door to Shooters on the intercoastal. Never been to last one though.

Raboi, I think Fish went out of business and Blue Moon isn't that close. I would recommend 3030 Ocean which is 2 minutes from your hotel.

I third 3030 Ocean. Very enjoyable food.

3030 forsure -- I don't know if Fish is open again (they said October?) but I wouldn't go there even if they were, poor service and food isn't up to par for what you pay.

        2. I would not recommend the Rustic Inn. The other recs are much better.

absolutely, 3030 - great seafood and the staff has been there since day one.
Chef Dean Maxx has a wonderful book out - Life by the Sea - available at the restaurant. Celebrity sitings, as well...

wow! 3030's menu and wine list look amazing! You think its ok to wear casual pants etc there though? It looks kinda swanky.

It's a nice place, but not overly stuffy. I'd say they'll let you in with nice looking jeans, but the best thing to do is call and ask the hostess.

You can definitely go casual. I've seen men in jean and in nice shorts eating there. Because it's in a hotel, it tends to be more casual than if it were on its on somewhere.

jeans definitely work - we saw steven tyler and neil young chowing down on stone crabs (great jumbos they have!) - all they wear is jeans and tee's............

                2. re: chicagowinediva

Definitely 3030. Been there many times and absolutely love it. I've worn khakis and a print shirt with no problem (I don't think I would wear a T shirt, however).

                  1. re: Alfred G

Thanks all! I think I will make an online res at 3030 and report back!
