midtown dessert place/cafe/tea house for late night

looking for a fun dessert place in midtown (20s-60s, ideally between madisonish and 8thish) to meet up with a friend. most of the dessert places that come to mind are either in the wrong location (cafe lalo in upper west, cha-an, max brenner, dessert truck in lower east) or a little boring (pinkberry or red mango in ktown). are there any good dessert places in midtown?! scary that this is new york city and i can't think of any...

interesting dessert thread if you are interested in all dessert places

so i saw that mentioned elsewhere on chowhound but when i looked at yelp it didn't get the greatest reviews. how to reconcile?

    2. it's touristy, but what about cheesecake at Juniors?

      1. You might want to try Ayza for some wine and chocolate.

        1. Maybe a nicer restaurant where you can order (just) desserts and drinks at the bar? Bar Room at the Modern, London Bar, Grayz, Insieme? I'd call and ask to be sure.

          1. azya looks absolutely perfect!!! chocolate + wine = my favorites. and great idea on just ordering dessert at a nicer restaurant - i absolutely love the modern and i'm sure we could order dessert at the bar

            1. It's one avenue out of your preferred area, but Kyotofu on 9th Ave between 48th and 49th Street, is a great little spot. It's Japanese and features mainly deserts, small plates and sake. The food is really unique, fresh and delicious.

kyotofu (nycs's rec) also has a few nice teas in case you don't want anything alcoholic.
