Inexpensive Liquor Stores in Boston Area

I'm going to buy a good bottle of tequila (Don Julio or Milagro) and don't have time to go up to New Hampshire for the low prices. Does anyone know anywhere in Boston/Cambridge (I live in Central Sq.) with good prices? I love the selection at Marty's, but they are not cheap. Any help is much appreciated!

The Shaws near the Pru sells liquor and they often have alcohol on sale.

The new liquor land store is absolutely worth a trip, parking is a bit more difficult but its not too hard. As noted take advantage of other chow options nearby (in addition to Hen House, there is still Speeds for a few more weeks on some days, M&M ribs).

If you live in Central, I wouldn't overlook the larger liquor store (where the Purity Supreme used to be). Prices are a bit high, but not as much as Porter or Downtown in Davis Sq, but at least for bourbon they have an excellent selection. Its not a quick trip down to LL, so for just one bottle it might be a better option. For cheap, SavMor usually has some good specials and more mixers at McGrath (that Kappy's at freshpond is a SavMor, although their stock is a bit mixed) but not everything is cheaper (and not a huge tequila selection, but I did see some specials about a month ago at their store on rt 16). Atlas is along the lines of the Fresh Pond store next to whole foods on pricing -- some specials, more towards selection.

Have moved to Davis from Beacon Hill a few months ago, I'm shocked by how expensive the two liquor stores here are, especially for wine. It makes no sense to me that it should be so much more than even the little Capitol Market on Beacon Hill. Here I was expecting a price drop when I moved :-/

If you want to hunt around (t-able options) for better prices and offerings, here are a few options. You might try Ball Sq Fine Wines on Broadway for a starting basis of comparison. On Highland the nondescript small liquor store across from Somerville Hospital used to have some less common inexpensive (spanish...) bottles, but I haven't been in there in at least 4-5 years. There are a couple of Somerville delivery options, Woody's which tends to be a bit pricey and tends towards generic wines. Barrios or Alexander Liquors in East Somerville (they also are in Medford which delivers to Medford, but I believe you want East Somerville) has more Portuguese wines and other options. You might have to go to the store to figure out what you like, but then could call and have it delivered. And past Tufts Hillside Spirits sometimes seems to have some decent prices on occasional lots of French wines (last cases from the distributor and so on). And for more serious delivery (case+) with web selection of items, there is Corporate Wines in Burlington and Bin Ends in Braintee.

Costco in Waltham has liquor and that department is open to non-members.

I find Kappy's prices about the best around, but never shopped specifically for tequila. From what I've seen I don't think there are any great bargains in NH, especially if you consider the cost of gas.

There is a Kappy's on Fresh Pond Parkway across from the Fresh Pond Mall.

Also...that Kappy's has nothing to do with the Kappy's at Wellington Circle...they just have the same name.
I found it out when I was looking for a rare beer or liquor and asked them to call over and see if it was in Medford...but it's a different company.

I find the prices at Wine and Cheese Cask to be pretty reasonable.

I just recently heard of this place - but I got the impression from the link you posted, that the neighborhood is rather sketchy.

Additionally,I think Kappy's at Wellington Circle has some good deals, as does the liquor store next to the Alewife Whole Foods.

i 2nd, 3rd and 4th liquor land. i think they're having a holiday wine tasting on saturday. you can check out the hen house next door and try their delish fried chicken and tasty micro-brewed sodas. just avoid everything else.
