Crawfish Etouffee and Jambalaya

krystle920 Nov 11, 2008 04:11 PM

Where can I find the best crawfish etouffee and jambalaya in the NY area? Pretty open to Manhattan, outer boroughs, and even Westchester/CT.

Based on boards here, it seems that very few places even serve them. Delta Grill in Manhattan, Bayou in Mt Vernon, and a few others.

Thanks and looking forward to eating these this weekend! Bonus points if they only cost around ~$15 (economy is bad).

Delta Grill, Abita Amber on tap notwithstanding, is no good. The crawfish in your etouffee will likely be frozen.

I haven't found acceptable Cajun in this borough :( .

Creole sells Gator etouffee. The reality is that people from Louisiana tend to not settle in NYC, so it is difficult to find authentic LA food here. Now California is a different story

Mara's Homemade in the East Village would have it, but it's received pretty poor reviews. Has anyone been recently?

Love, love, love the jambalaya and shrimp estouffe at Shark Bar at Amrsterdam and 74-75. It's been there fior years and hardly ever gets mentioned but it has terrific Louisiana food at very reasonable prices. I've taken tons of people and each and every one has liked it.
