Old town Fredericksburg, VA recommendations

My wife and I are meeting the folks in old town Fredericksburg this weekend for her bday dinner. Looking for somewhere that takes reservations. Should be upscale but over the top gourmet would be lost on them. Anything but seafood! Any suggestions are appreciated.

    1. Just my opinion:

You can get "upscale" as in "pretentious," but you can't get "over the top gourmet," you can't even get edible - not in Fredericksburg.

        1. anyone, have you heard of a good lebanese in fredericksburg? la ziza? something sounding similar? near the ukrops. (some waitress in a lebanese place here told us about it....)

Carl's ice cream is the only thing worth the stop - that I've found. My friend likes SammyT's for pub fare...

My first job out of college was across the street from Carl's. Everyday they were open we'd do a "Carl's run" and I always got a chocolate malt with extra malt.

There is a good Lebanese place on Plank Rd in Fredericksburg- i think
that is is called Laziaza? (maybe not the correct spelling)

cool. thanks for the update. the gal here (a waitress at arlington's "quasi" mid-eastern restaurant, "aladdin's") told us -- i believe -- that it's owned by the same folks, but that the laziza in fredericksburg is the real deal. (i also see there is an "aladdin's" sp? in fredericksburg, on plank road. don't know if that is *also* related).

i found laziza's website, and it looks like the site still needs some work. this is the best way to navigate and get to the menus: http://www.lazizaoffredericksburg.com/Map.cfm
it looks like a handsome place. here's a coupon for a free app! ;-) http://www.lazizaoffredericksburg.com/Coupons/LazizaAd2.gif

I love lebanese food - healthy too!

                        • Bistro Bethem was actually quite good. We've eaten there twice. They take reservations. The food is upscale, but not gourmet. I have seen some bad reviews for it, but we have never been disappointed. We've had steak, fish and the stuffed quail -- which I thought was very good. They have a decent wine list as well.
