Indian in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario?

My family is looking to try Indian food, and while I spend most of my time in Toronto, I don't know what Indian restaurants there are in Kitchener-Waterloo. I'm looking for a place that's semi nice (no Curry-in-a-hurry University style! :P), that we can bring Grandma to. Also, it's my sister's birthday! Hurrah! :) I'd appreciate any help you guys can give! Thanks!

Maharaja's Palace in downtown Waterloo was always a decent place when I was living in K-W. Definitely at a higher level than Curry in a Hurry and my Gujarati (by way of Brampton) roommate enjoyed it.

Not sure if it's a birthday level place - more of regular family trip to a restaurant. It's definitely not Tabla (NYC) or Amaya level.

Your best bet is Masala Bay in Waterloo.

I second Masala Bay. The decor is pretty cool and the lunch-buffet is pretty good for the value. I haven't tried the dinner entrees.
