Mission Beach Cafe Breakfast

This is my new favorite breakfast place in town (with one caveat, see below).
Finally made it to Mission Beach Cafe (14th & Guerrero, SF) on Saturday morning. A friend and I shared two dishes, the special scramble (garlic, cherry tomatoes, provolone and pesto) and the breakfast sandwich. The scramble was fantastic; cooked perfectly, not at all dry, with sweet halved cherry tomatoes, roasted garlic cloves and a smear of pesto on top. Breakfast sandwiches tend to bore me, but this one is truly special with butter lettuce, tomato and caramelized onions, all served on a delicious homemade English muffin. The sandwich was a steal at $7.50, with a small side salad with figs and (here's the caveat) and potatoes. My only complaint was the potatoes were so boring, I wish they would try something to jazz them up a little, or even offer fruit instead.
All in all, can't wait to go back. The eggs or salmon benedict are calling my name.
Parking is difficult, but not impossible. I've been going there once or twice a week for the last month and you can park on Valencia and *sometimes* even on Guerrero! No, I agree--it is tough.
I have to mention that their pastries and desserts are of incredibly high quality and made by a very talented pastry chef who also happens to be a joy to talk to.
Update: they are now serving a full breakfast on weekdays. Used to be just baked goods and bevs in the morning.
Since I've moved to this 'hood, this is one of my favorite brunch places (along with Bar Tartine and Canteen). Great stuff. I especially love the quiche and the egg sandwich.
