Royal King -- new banh mi joint for Chinatown/FiDi
Strolling down Kearny, I noticed that a new banh mi venue had opened in the depressed 600 block of Kearny St in the month I was out of the country (or maybe even before). It's Royal King, at 638 Kearny (right next to Hon's Wun-Tun House). No pho, just sandwiches, it appears. Has anyone tried it?

ok - just ate one of their bbq pork sandwiches. Could've used a little more meat, but I liked the seasoning on the pork, which was thinly sliced. Generous helping of carrot/daikon and nice thin-sliced jalapenos. Soft yet crunchy bread, but meat to bread ratio could have been better. They also have various packaged food items for sale: spring rolls, pork w/rice, pork & imperial roll w/noodles, some kind of shrimp dumpling and other items that I can't identify. Pork sandwich was a mere $3 plus 20 cents tax. All packaged items $3.50 each. Given the nearby alternative (Latte Express), I'd rather go here.
