5 Napkin Burger

Just wanted to follow up - I had asked for some pre-theatre lunch ideas. We didn't want a huge 5 course lunch, just looking for a good place that took reservations.

It actually was pretty good. Not cheap, but it was a GREAT burger. Got the cheddar with bacon. Fries were awesome.

Service was great, nice waiter. It was raining, and I commented that we were going to sit a little to let the rain pass. He offered us a complementary cup of coffee while we waited. Small gesture, but made my day.

As a side note - right next door on 45th street, there was a really small and nondescript looking place that said Dollar Chicken. There was a long line out the door. So after lunch I took a look. It was this small local fried chicken place. I am not sure how to describe it, other than local.

HAD to try it. Got 4 wings for $3. Amazing. Hot, a little greasy, fresh. Awesome.

My take on 5 Napkin www.chowhound.com/topics/563312
Piece of Chicken is excellent-try their chicken livers (which my daughter says smell like cat food but which i think are Meeeowwtta sight).

Yeah, I really like 5 Napkin burger. The only criticism I have is that it's a bit too large -- very difficult to eat it. I end up deconstructing it as that's the only way I can fit it in my mouth. But it's very tasty.

And I've never had any service problems and burnt fries there.

Glad to hear that the service and fries improved. The burgers were always fantastic, but when I visited during the summer, the service was unorganized and slow, and my fries were burnt to a crisp. I guess i'll re-visit and see if I have a better experience.
