Arriving Late

t
Tlaloc Nov 9, 2008 05:15 PM

My flight lands at 10:45 PM on Sunday the 16th. It'll probably be close to midnight by the time I get to my hotel, the Hilton Riverside on Poydras. Are there any good spots really close to the hotel where I can get something quick, maybe to go?

Thanks!

I feel your pain. We did similar on the last two trips. At the Hilton, we did Drago's (a little bit earlier than you) and were horribly disappointed.

Previous trip, we were at the Ritz-Carlton and I did in-room, when wife arrived at 1:00AM. That was much more than I had experienced earlier at the Rit dining room. It was some of the best in-room that I have done in decades. Still, that does not help you.

We did not do in-room at the Hilton, so I cannot help there.

In the "good old days," you'd get several recs., but now is a different time. I hope that some local can fill you in, but it might well be that you need to dine at your departure airport (I know - shudder), and then get busy with NO dining the next AM.

    Good luck,

    Hunt

if you're taking a cab, you could pick up on the way to hotel.

I seriously doubt that Ernst will be open at midnight on a Sunday, and I am not sure about Port of Call either.

Check out this list for some ideas, but I would call to check because it is really tough to find a place open past midnight on a Sunday.

both places are listed as closing at midnight in a local guide. like I said, be sure to call first as they may be able to accommodate a late night take-out order.

They will do take out occasionally. It depends on how busy they are...

JB, is this a new policy? we did take-out often from POC.

                edible,

My son's experience has been you can not call it in, you must go there, place an eat in order, then ask for a go box. Perhaps others have had better luck. Husband and I always eat there.

            I wish I could help, but by then . . . .

I'm flying in on Thursday, 11/13. I usually time it such that we arrive sometime around 2-3pm. By the time we get our bags (at MSY, that can take forever!), and check-in to our hotel (International House), Acme for oysters & beer is a short walk and a late lunch away . . . then, we're in great shape for a late dinner. (I know; no help whatsoever. Sorry.)

verti mart is open 24/7. it's closer to the other end of the quarter but they do deliver in the quarter and marigny. just not sure if deliver would extend to the hilton, which is technically the CBD, I guess, but pretty close to the quarter. one of my favorite late night eats is the pizza at club decatur (204 decatur), which is some of the best in the city, imo.

I just confirmed that Hoshun on St. Charles is open til 2am each and every day. I have yet to dine there but the online menu looks "delicious". Also I have eaten tapas at Mimi's in the Marigny and the Manchego Toast was amazing. They serve til 1-2am.

Mimi's is great late night food...they serve food til 4ish on the weekends and "til" on the weekdays.

Clover Grill, Quartermaster Deli, Checkpoint Charlie's, or very close to Canal, my favorite late night Quarter food spot, The Alibi on Iberville. All serve 24/7.

Rambla is open till midnight on the weekends, not sure if that includes Sunday! Luke is open till 11:00 dont think that helps though! I would think that Gordon Biersch next to Harrah's would have to stay open pretty late you may want to check them out.

What about Uptown? My handle is out of date and I live in Riverbend now. I know about the Camellia Grill, of course, but what are the other good late-night places Uptown?
