EMP Lunch dress code

My wife and I are dining at EMP for lunch during the holdiay period. She tells me that black jeans, a nice shirt, and a sport coat would be fine. I am thinking that dress slacks would be more appropriate. Is she right? I am not interested in dressing up--I just don't want to do underdressed.

    1. Your wife is right. Jeans, dress shirt and sports jacket is fine for lunch as long as the jeans are nice.

          Hi KTinNYC,

I personally will be hesitant towear jeans to EMP even at lunch time. I had definitely seen people doing that in that past, but I felt they underdressed (sorry...). I think a suit pant or a dress will be more appropriate.

As for sport coat, it depends of what kind. The nylon kind with a hoodie, a bit no. A dark Ralph Lauren sport jacket would be fine though.

I tend to be as causal as possible when I dine out as well (note: I wear jeans to Gramercy Tavern all the time), but I usually dress up at least slightly for EMP.

I take sport coat to mean sport coat. Something that looks like this http://thesartorialist.blogspot.com/2...

You are entitled to feel that people wearing jeans to EMP for lunch are under dressed but I and many others do not.
