Pappa Perrone's Truck

guttergourmet Nov 9, 2008 08:01 AM

54th between Park and Mad. The meat and pea stuffed arancini (rice ball) covered in mozz is fantastic and huge! Tomato/grandma slices are pretty good (like Jianetto's and the other pizza trucks). The meatball parm hero was also very very good. Recommended.

Is there a website or posted hours for the truck? Is he always at the same corner? Weekdays only?

he's on 55th bet park and mad...its across from my office.

first time i went, i had possibly the worst pizza of my life. but after the midtownlunch crowd got into his sandwiches, i tried a meatball parm on garlic bread the other day.

it was huge, insanely tasty, and heavy. i can eat half for my lunch...i was very impressed. not something i can eat all the time but ill be back.

I like the plain meatball parm a lot, but got the meatball, eggplant on garlic bread last week... over the top... too much grease in one place. The ziti and meatballs is a once a week indulgence for me.

Holy crap...The meatball parm ON garlic bread? Wow, I need to get over there asap. I'm just around the corner. Thx for that tidbit!

Office is moving to Times Square. Said farewell to Papa Perrone's truck yesterday. Offered him a bribe to change his location to Times Square. Instead, JPP (Johnpaul Perrone) made me a meatball parm hero for the ages to remember him by.

I heard there's a Papa Peyronie's in Times Square, but you might not like that place.

Pappa Perrone's vegetarian rice ball (filled with spinach & cheese) is delish, too. Best I've ever had.

Agreed - Pappa Perrone's is recommended. The rice balls are really great. Definitely order some sauce on the side. Also, the guy who works in the truck is pretty cool too. He'll happily chat with you about the origins of his recipes and, of course, the trials and tribulations of food truck life.

Awesome...I work right around there and haven't seen this guy. Is he on a particular corner, or just middle of the street? Thanks. The meatball parm sounds great.

Still love this guy. Proscuitto rolls rock. Pablo Special- tomato grandma slice covered in meatballs and mozzarella. Mama mia that's good.
