Looking for quince paste to serve as part of an appetizer. Where can I pick some up - someplace central or east end along the subway line? Thanks!

  1. Latino shops sell quince as membrillo. I've also found quince preserves in Middle Eastern shops, though I don't recall seeing a paste.

    1. Longo's sells a line from New Zealand that is delicious. There is quince paste, fig paste and pear paste. They stock it around the cheese counter.

oh gosh - that sounds delicious... I may be to pick up all three ;) thanks paulj & torontojo

      2. I have bought it in the past at La Salumeria at Yonge and Davisville. You could call and see if they have any in stock.

I've also seen it sold at Alex Farms and Summerhill Market. Very yummy with certain cheeses.

        2. I'm pretty sure Highland Farms carries quince paste. The cheese store at the south end of St. Lawrence Market has it.

really - which one was this? I was just at the one at gerrard square and I didn't see it there but I didn't look closely.. but I may have been in the "jam section"...

          2. This is in the west end, out on the Queensway, but it's where I got membrillo a year or so ago -Pasquale Brothers. They're on Goodrich Road in Etobicoke, which is a little off Islington, north of the Queensway (turn west onto Jutland, then north onto Goodrich).

The bonus is that it's a great specialty food shop overall. Whenever I go I walk out with something new that becomes a pantry staple in the house.
