mexican in Mission District

A few years ago I went to a wonderful Mexican restaurant in the Mission District but can't remember anything about it except that it was cafeteria-style. Anyone have any ideas?

What do you mean by cafeteria style.? You slide your tray past a set of prepared food, preplated, you point or ask and someone ladles it on your plate or you stand in line, order and it is brought to you table?

i know we did pass a try along prepared food but my memory is hazy about whether the food was brought to the table or we got it ourselves. My sister is sure we took the Army exit, though.

I'm guessing Pancho Villa, because it's busy and has a pretty good variety of items you pass by as you order. It would make an impression if you had not been there before.

Neither one is cafeteria style, both have table service.
You'll need to provide more details, or just visit the places below.
Pancho Villa, La Taqueria, La Corneta, Taqueria Cancun, and many more, are cafeteria style (self-service). All are in the Mission and near a BART station. That's all I can help you.

El Metate was the first one that came to mind for me. I don't think Regalito has been around that long(?)

As Windy says, a fair number of places are more or less self-serve, as in stand in line and order and they call out your number or bring it to the table, but I can't think of any Mexican places in the Mission that are what I would call true 'cafeteria' style.
