San Jose: Torta, Torta, Torta - Bakery Mexico?

  • 2

After the third time I stumbled across this googling today, I thought I'd ask.

The torta Cubana is supposed to be good. What intrigues me about this is that they scramble eggs with chorizo and include that in the tortal. Here's someone's photo.

The carne asada and the milenesa tortas also gets lots of thumbs up. I am guessing the milenesa is the best choice here.

When they pull the pan dulce out of the oven, people ordering a torta sometimes get a free pan dulce.

Around Christmas the have baskets made of bread and filled with rolls

The one on story is near Home Depot next to a dentist. There's a neon sign in the window flashing ... tortas, tortas, tortas.

Anyone tried it?

  1. Thanks for the heads up. Haven't been but that torta looks mighty tasty!! I love really good sandwiches...

I''ll check it out next time I'm in the area. Dowtown is most convenient for me, but have you read/heard if one is supposedly superior to others?

Torta-wise they seem to be created equal. The Story Rd location supposedly has a better selection of pan dulce. I'm not sure if that is the only place that bakes on site or not. There are no web reports of the Alum Rock location, so they must be new.
