Piri Piri Sauce for chicken or fish

smr714 Nov 7, 2008 11:36 AM

Anyone know where to buy a good piri piri sauce. I normally buy Macarico sauce when I am in Toronto, but cannot find it or an equivalent here in Los Angeles. The bottle I buy is 200ml/7oz and runs me about 2.50 Canadian at home.

Any suggestions as to what to get down here that is the same or similar would be appreciated.

A local brand based in Costa Mesa, Nando's, is available at pretty much any decent supermarket. Can't say how it compares to Macarico, though.

I would try the Brazilian markets like Kitanda in the valley, or Camaguay and the Brazilian Mall in Culver City, near the unofficial little Brazil area.If they dont have piri piri sauce you can just buy some malagueta peppers and make it yourself.I would do the latter. It's not a difficult recipe at all.
