Need Vegetarian or non-red meat options in Baltimore

  • 9

Looking for a casual restaurant that offers good selections of vegetarian options, or at least good non-red meat options, for dinner in downtown Baltimore.

Mezze in Fells Point -- small plate tapas, that has a nice selection of non-meat dishes.

    1. I would recommend Helmand at 806 N. Charles St. Its a Afghan place with a lot of good vegetarian options.

      1. As a veggie myself, here are my suggestions...

        Meli and Helmand, as mentioned
Akbar and Kumari in Mt Vernon
        Alexander's Tavern in Fells Point
        Yellow Dog Tavern in Canton
        Lebanese Taverna in Harbor East

My friend had a veggie plate at Yellow Dog, and it was a "pick three sides and we'll plate it for you." Not much thought or passion involved.

I agree – that's extremely annoying and I should have pointed that out. However, they have a lot of other vegetarian options on the menu.

Yes - I agree, as well, and refused to order the unimaginative three sides option. Instead, I chose the vegetarian burger which is excellent. It's homemade and super tasty. The Yellow Dog is presently one of my fave Bmore restaurants.

Other places to consider: (this list is in order of preferrence)
              1) The Bicycle - Vegetarian Nirvana is the best veggie entree in Bmore. Plus, there are plenty of other non-red meat options.
              2) Dogwood

just to add a few other great veg options:
                One World Cafe
                Yabba Pot
                Rocket to Venus
Grace Garden is willing to make lots of great Veg Chinese---some of the best Chinese I've ever had, but in Odenton
                Baltimore Pho
                Golden West Cafe
                Mari Luna

Heh. I did order the "three sides" option and loved it. I could have eaten a bowl of just the cauliflower and been an extremely happy camper. I was just telling someone last night that I think Yellow Dog is underrated. It doesn't get much talk, but is very good at what it does.

I have heard the exact opposite but willing to give it another try. What's good?
